Truck bed tent picks matched to your truck model and bed length

About Us

About us, in one line: TruckNestGear is an independent site that helps truck owners choose a truck bed tent that actually fits their truck and holds up where they camp. I’m Yousaf Khan, and I started it in March 2026. This page explains who runs it, how the research works and the rules every guide follows.

Who Runs TruckNestGear

Founder and editor

Yousaf Khan

I run TruckNestGear and I’m responsible for every guide, review and recommendation on the site. My job is to dig through spec sheets, fitment data and owner experience until the right truck bed tent for a given truck and bed length is clear, then write it up so you can decide in minutes instead of hours.

  • Written for US truck campers

Why This Site Exists

Most “best truck tent” lists recycle manufacturer descriptions and rank products without checking whether they fit. A truck bed tent is sized to the bed, not the truck badge, so a tent that suits a 6.5 ft bed can be useless in a 5.5 ft short bed. TruckNestGear exists to fix that.

  • Fit by truck and bed lengthEvery pick is matched to 5.5 ft, 6.5 ft or 8 ft beds, with notes on tailgates, wheel wells and tonneau covers.
  • Weather you can plan aroundWaterproof ratings in mm (hydrostatic head, or HH), fabric type (polyester, ripstop or canvas) and what owners report after real storms.
  • One focusTruck bed tents first, rooftop tents second, plus the accessories and camping know-how that make a night in the bed of a pickup work.

How We Research Truck Bed Tents

No single source tells the whole story, so every recommendation is built from four layers of evidence before it goes live.

  1. Manufacturer specsBed sizes, floor dimensions, fabric, waterproof rating and pole design come from the manufacturer’s spec sheet or the official product listing, and we say “according to the manufacturer” when a number is theirs.
  2. Fitment by truckEach tent is checked against the bed lengths of the trucks we cover, from the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger to the F-150, Silverado and RAM 1500.
  3. Owner experienceWe read through owner reviews, forum threads and long-term reports to find the patterns: which tents leak at the seams, which straps miss the wheel wells and which hold up season after season.
  4. Ongoing updatesGuides are revisited as products change, get discontinued or are replaced. When we find a spec error, we correct it on every page that mentions it.

What We Will Never Do

  • Sell a ranking. Brands cannot pay for a spot, and there are no sponsored placements.
  • Invent a score. No made-up ratings, star bars or “winner” badges. You get the trade-offs in plain words.
  • Publish a spec we can’t trace. Every number comes from the manufacturer or the official listing.
  • Copy reviews. We summarise what owners report; we never paste customer reviews or pass them off as our own words.
  • Let commissions pick the tent. If a cheaper tent fits your truck better, that is the one we recommend.
